football and roses

Superbowl this year was February 4th.  Amelia and I got up early (well, early for a Sunday) and cooked up a big breakfast of waffles, potatoes, sausage and eggs and toast… it was the toast that really put it over the top.  Megan was in town that weekend and Grandma Rose came over and we all feasted and watched the Superbowl.  Amelia was rooting for the Colts, when they came on the television she was fascinated, when the other team was shown she grew bored.  She sat down with Chris on the couch and watched the game while I took a nap.  Yeah, I know, I suck at the football fan thing.  By the time I woke up the Colts had won and Amelia was ready for a nap.

Valentines Day was on a Wednesday this year, which worked out perfectly as I have Amelia but I also work in the afternoons on Wednesdays.  The night before I arranged two vases of flowers and made cupcakes.  Chris was a little disheartened that the cupcakes were intended for work.  Though I didn’t mention whose.  Valentines Day morning I gathered everything together and took a few pictures of Amelia.

I printed out the pictures and loaded up the car.  First we went by my parents dental office and dropped off flowers, chocolates and pictures to my parents.  Amelia was admired by patients and coworkers alike and smiled at everyone.  Next stop was Chris’ office, where we dropped off a tiny vase of carnations, pictures and cupcakes, which got a little smashed going up the stairs, I didn’t quite have enough hands to keep them out of reach of Amelia who found she liked the feel of the frosting being mashed by her fist.  We were doing Valentines Day on the cheap and our only plan was to go to dinner and a movie that night, so Chris hadn’t expected us at all, his surprise at seeing us was very cool.  His coworkers loved it too and gathered like users to their drug dealer, cooing and making faces at Amelia who adored the attention, giggling and grinning back.  After that it was to my work and another stop at Grandma Rose’s desk to drop off the last of the flower, chocolates and pictures… and Amelia for a short time so that I could unload the car.  That evening Amelia went to Grandma Rose’s for a short slumber party while Chris and I went and saw Catch and Release (cute film) and then in lieu of dinner drove out Alleghany way and talked and hung out like we used to.  A romantic night at the Wilson household wouldn’t be complete without a quick stop at McDonalds before we picked up Amelia and headed home.  It was a good day.  :)
